Narcan in Schools

Please call your State Senator and ask them to support Narcan in all Wisconsin schools
Why we need a Senate Bill to make Narcan accessible at all times in our public/private schools:
- An Average of 22 Adolescents 14-18 Years of Age Die Each Week in the US….many in Wisconsin
- 20% of High School Students Reported They Can Buy Illicit Drugs on School Property
- 13 is the average age of first-time drug/alcohol use
- 9 out of 10 addictions start in the teen years
- Fentanyl is in 70% of street drugs including vaping oils, marijuana, counterfeit pills, ecstasy and many others
- Fentanyl has Become the Leading Cause of Death in American Teens: 94% of all Overdoses in Wisconsin in 2024.
- Narcan Overdose Resource Kits for 1,267 Public/Charter/Choice Schools One-Time Cost ($273,837) Divided By 446,000 M/HS Students = Cost per Student of $0.61
- 2023 Wisconsin Act 194 provided civil immunity to elementary and secondary schools, school personnel, and particular medical professionals who provide or administer an opioid antagonist, plus Good Samaritan Act
- In 2023 there were 1,415 overdose deaths in WI. That’s more than all traffic and shooting fatalities
- In 2024, according to the CDC the opioid epidemic cost WI $14.1 billion
